Seattle's loss -- Lusty Lady to close

One of my favorite things to read downtown Seattle are the marquis postings of the Lusty Lady. Now, given the rise of internet porn, it seems they are going to close. Too bad. Their wicked use of puns and double entendres have made the walk to the Seattle Art Museum a lot more fun. Not only have they taken suggestions from customers, but they've also been keen on playing off the themes of whatever it is that is showing at the SAM. I don't know for sure, but I'm willing to bet their marquis was fun to read when the "Hammering Man" sculpture was unveiled.

The only sign more fun is the one on the side of I-5 that you see driving from Seattle to Portland. It features the giant image of Uncle Sam and an ever-rotating set of slogans, thoughts, and pure offensive what-nots. There's a lot more on the history of this sign and the guy who runs the editorial team here. But when you do the drive, be sure to take in the view from the south and from the north, because the messages are different on both sides, just to keep boredom at bay.
